Why Villains Exist?

The other day I was playing with my 4 years old nephew. Naturally, he was the mighty hero with his plastic sword, and of course, I was cast as the villain. After half an hour of nonstop battling, I finally surrendered. His “power” was too much for me. I switched to the good side, thinking the war was over.

Five minutes later, he marched back, sword raised, declaring another battle. Turns out, without a villain, a hero has nothing to do.

Moral of the story: villains exist to keep heroes entertained.
